Matt has worked on many of the high end properties I manage. Most recently a one million dollar home renovation. I can’t say enough good things about Matt and his crew. They are a team of knowledgeable professionals whose attention to detail is second to none. They are punctual, reliable and nice to have around. They work respectfully and harmoniously with everyone on site. It is easy to stand behind the work they put out because it is of the highest quality. I would more than highly recommend Matt, I would strongly encourage it.
Matt was, hands down, the best contractor / carpenter I have found. I'm actually a little hesitant to recommend him, because I know that I'll need his services in the future, and I don't want him to be too busy for me to hire him. By all means, if you are looking for someone friendly, reliable, and who produces good work, hire Matt. I felt like I could trust him completely to do work in my home when I wasn't there, and that everything would be great when I got back (and it was!).
I hired Matt to help me with my bathroom reno. His background is as a finishing carpenter. Because of that, he does a high quality job and has a natural attention to detail and fine finishing. His rate is reasonable so I asked him to help with everything from start to finish. He oversaw the demolition, framing and finishing of the entire room, and helped me bring in others where needed - plumber, electrician, drywall, etc. He was a pleasure to have around, listened and always gave me what I wanted, was happy to change things as we went, and made sure to produce a quality final product. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.
I hired Matt and his team to install baseboards and other trim throughout my condo, as well as hang some new doors, and do a small amount of finishing work in my kitchen. They consistently showed up exactly when they said they would, were super friendly, listened carefully, and most importantly, did excellent work with meticulous attention to detail. In one instance, they made an aesthetic choice about a very minor detail that I didn't care for, and they happily came back and tweaked it for me later, so that it was exactly how I wanted it. Overall, an excellent experience, and I would absolutely recommend them.
Right from the start Matt was friendly, professional and efficient, with excellent quality work. After many unsuccessful attempts to even get quotes from other cabinet makers to add in 7 matching kitchen cabinets and a facade, Matt replied quickly and had measured up and quoted within a couple of days. He immediately understood what we wanted and what the project challenges were and his price was reasonable. Installation took Matt and his assistant 12 hours on a Saturday. He arrived right on time, and took great care of our house. He was polite and communicative through the whole process - even 12 hours in! The installation was definitely challenging, with some tricky problems to solve, and he did a fantastic job. He took care to add some thoughtful details above what we required and cleaned up after. His build quality and attention to detail are excellent.
Matt did work on our house after we removed a false ceiling in the living room. Matt was diligent in showing up. He worked really hard when he was on the job, never missed a day when he said he would be there, and had the entire project finished in short order. His work is excellent. His attention to detail was top-notch. Our house is old, the walls are not straight. Matt came up with solutions to solve the problem. He measured twice, cut once. He worked to the tightest of tolerances and made the house look great. We used mouldings around our doorways. He found a moulding that sort of matched, sawed it at weird angles, and made it look perfect! On top of that, Matt is a great guy. He was patient in explaining what he was doing. He listened to what we wanted to do, instead of trying to force his vision down our throats. And my daughters loved him and were very excited to have him eat with us. I can't recommend Matt highly enough. He was on time, did an amazing job and is a really wonderful guy. If you hire him, you will be lucky.
Matt did an excellent job completing the wood finishing needed in two rooms in our house. Key words to describe Matt's work are: reliable, organized, efficient, hard working, knowledgeable. He had great suggestions and ideas for giving the project a great look. The project turned out exactly the way we envisioned it...with a few bonus ideas that Matt suggested. We would not hesitate to call on Matt for future projects.
Matt is fantastic. I wish I met Matt years ago. He is the ultimate professional that takes great pride in his work. He is very skilled at what he does. and I really appreciated his attention to detail. He oversees the project, describes the process to completion and most importantly for me arrives when he says he will. All this on top of being an honest and nice young man. If you don't choose Matt you are not getting the full package!
We contracted with Matt to install new baseboards in the living and dining area of our timberframe home. He collaborated well with our electrician to remove and reinstall some flooring for an electrical extension. Work was completed in a timely and professional manner. He communicates well about the project scope and progress. Due to Covid, we were unable to be on site, but photos and good communication made us comfortable with the work completed. We would use Avalanche Construction & Woodworks again.
Matt did an awesome job fixing a 53 year old wood framed patio door that wasn’t functioning properly. He came within a few days and was able to diagnose the problem accurately. It wasn’t a big job, but Matt kindly offered to fit us in between jobs and now our patio door works better than ever and glides smoothly across the track. We are very pleased with the quality of Matt’s work and the cost was quite reasonable. It is obvious Matt takes pride in his work and we would not hesitate to recommend him.

We had some work done by Matt and his team and have been thoroughly impressed with the way in which the team worked, communicated and conducted themselves. We had a custom stair rail and cabinet installed along with some other work which included a stair rail repair and some self closing hinges fitted to a basement door. All the work was carried out to exceptional standards and we found Matt to be personable and courteous throughout the whole process. He will be the first guy I call in the future for any skilled carpentry work.
